The Home Connection Readers for English Language Learners (HCR-ELL) is a collection of consumable books for emergent readers that are English Language Learners receiving English or Spanish literacy instruction. The collection includes 25 copies of 6 titles in English and 25 copies of the corresponding 6 trans-adapted Spanish language titles. HCR-ELL books promote early literacy skills by design. The books contain simple sentence structures, ample picture support, and high-frequency words to promote strategic reading from the start. The collection can be used in a variety of ways to provide:

• Resources for whole-group or small-group instruction to support in-class literacy and language acquisition
• High-quality materials to Spanish speaking parents that strengthen the home literacy environment
• Extra reading practice for homework
• Instructional materials to be distributed at school events such as open house, parent orientation, or family reading night
